~ Salawar ~
An essential item for many forms of Middle Eastern dance, the Salawar (aka Pantaloons or Harem Pants) in American Tribal Style are traditionally worn under layers of skirts and present a stunning color accent during turns and spins when the skirts float up. These Salawar have such lovely detailing and colors, we also think they look great worn alone! They are made from gently-used 'vintage silk' sari fabrics from India. One size, with an elastic and drawstring waistband that fits most waists and hips. All Salawar tend to be one of a kind. Choose individual pants below. These Salawar look great on men, too!

Boulder Class Schedules:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tribal Techniques, Level 1 (Beginning) with Jennifer Secrist Goran
Every Tuesday 6:00- 6:45pm
Boulder Quest Center ~ 1200 Yarmouth
www.boulderquest.com ~ 303-440-3647
punch cards: 5 classes for $45 or 10/$80
What has made American Tribal Style (ATS) Belly Dance such a wildly popular belly dance form? The power and presence of the moves? The lush and exotic costuming? The sense of community created by a group of dancers working together in an 'improvisational choreography'? All of the above??? Come and find out for yourself with an instructor with almost 20 years training in ATS! In this class you will learn the fundamentals of tribal style steps, foot and arm placement, posture, simple zil patterns and the mechanics of each movement. Although this class is suitable for the new student, it is also beneficial for the more advanced student to review, refine and "polish" their ATS movement technique. Movements are repeated every 20 weeks or so. There is no official start or stop to the sessions. You may begin taking this class at any point during our curriculum as each week we break down the movements from the ground up. Prerequisite: there is no prerequisite to start taking Tribal Techniques.
Dress for class: Any fitted top and pants or skirt that provides full range of movement. Hip scarves, jeweled or tassel belts are optional. Quest Center requests socks or dance shoes. You will eventually need a pair of zils (finger cymbals).
Tribal Techniques, Level 2 (Intermediate) with Jennifer Secrist Goran
Boulder Quest Center ~ 1200 Yarmouth
www.boulderquest.com ~ 303-440-3647
Continue your exploration of Tribal Style Belly Dance with this fun, on-going class! Here we will start using all of the movements & steps you've learned in Tribal Techniques, Level 1 in new formations geared towards group improvisational dancing. Emphasis for this class will be on gaining leading and following skills thru development of cues, transitions and fundamental formations. Prerequisite: I recommend completing at least one full session (20 weeks) of Level 1 before attending this class.
Dress for class: A choli top is preferred along with any pants or skirt that provides full range of movement. Hip scarves, jeweled or tassel belts are optional. Quest Center requests socks or dance shoes. You will need your own zils.
Expanding and refining skills learned in Tribal Techniques, Levels 1 & 2, emphasis for this class will be on developing tools for use in student shows, thru understanding of musicality & phrasing, use of more complex formations & transitions and additional vocabulary of advanced level steps and movements.
Prerequisite: This is NOT a drop-in class. See instructor about your skill level before attending this class.
