I'll be in CO from June 5th to June 15th and I'm looking for something to do! Anything happening during that time frame?

Sun, May 25, 2008 - 8:34 AMWelllll... being the dork that I am, the Colorado Renaissance Festival's opening weekend is the 14th and 15th of June, down in Larkspur (www.coloradorenaissance.com). I work there. Always a good time, with sunburn and altitude sickness and beer! Hooray! :-P

Re: June 5-15
Sun, May 25, 2008 - 2:34 PMI'm teaching & performing in a bellydance festival down in Alamosa on the 7th, if you want some info. -

Re: June 5-15
Sun, May 25, 2008 - 3:12 PMHmm...where is Alamosa, exactly? I'm a native Denverite so that's most of what I know. LOL.
I'll be in Manitou Springs, Denver, and somewhere near Delta while I'm out there. -

Re: June 5-15
Mon, May 26, 2008 - 1:50 PMAlamosa is pretty far south down the I-25 coridor if I remember correctly.
We also have Shimmy for the Cure on the 6th and 7th I believe, but I don't have a lot of info on that. There is the Renfaire starting on the 14th, lots of fun, but not necessarily belly dance related. Not sure what else is going on.

Tue, May 27, 2008 - 7:11 AMHmm...I'm going to check my schedule and see if I'll be in Denver for the show at least! If I can make it I will!
I definitely want to hear about anything else going on in that time frame.
Tell Laylia I said, "HELLOOOOOO!" if I don't get to make it. =oD -

Re: June 5-15
Wed, May 28, 2008 - 3:54 PMIt's definitely not strictly dance related but lil' ol' me will be down there at least! I'm working on getting some more guests dancers, but that's still a work in progress . . .
They are also adding quite a few extra acts, but again, not dance related.
There are quite a few restaurants and other venues that host regular dancing and music, if that's something you would be interested in, Taletha? -

Thu, May 29, 2008 - 9:39 AMOh yeah, I know of Mataam Fez. What other restaurants have dancers? -

Re: June 5-15
Fri, May 30, 2008 - 12:30 PMHouse of Marrakech has a similar theme to Mataam Fez, except you don't have to sit on the floor, eat with your hands, and you can use utensils! I dance there, and there are a few dancers that are at both restaurants. It's right off of the 16th street mall downtown.
I used to dance at Bombay Bistro up in Boulder, and they have really good food, and a lot of Natasha's dancers perform there. There are a few Indian restaurants further south that offer dancing. India House is one of them, I'm pretty sure?
Casablanca also offers dancing, and they also share a couple dancers with Mataam Fez. I haven't eaten there, but I can at least say that their decorations are gorgeous. They are close to the DU campus.
House of Kabob sometimes has dancers, but I can definitely tell you that their best act is hosting Rachid on weekends when he is in town. Sometimes he performs with some of his students and other local musicians.
That's all that is on the top of my head right now, I'll try and post more if I come up with any.
There are also several clubs and hookah bars that have bellydancers, if you are not looking at strictly restaurants to go to.
